Chianti is a vast territory between Florence and Siena in the heart of Tuscany, a region known for wine and olive oil production as well as for the magnificent landscape. In the past this area was the site of many battles between the two provinces to such a degree as to cause the Republic of Florence in 1384 to found the Chianti League, which was a military-political alliance. Its mission was to defend and to administer the territory on behalf of the Florentine republic. For their coat-of-arms they had the image of a black rooster on a gold background which became the symbol of Chianti Classico vine. The league survived even after the end of the battles between Florence and Siena and was abolished only in 1774. During the tour we will have the occasion to visit some of the most famous farms, see their wine cellars and taste excellent wines. We may also visit small villages such as Greve, Castellina and Radda in Chianti, and ancient castles, hidden among green hills and surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. Embraced by the warm glow of the midmorning sun, the antique towers of the city and the crenellated walls cast long shadows on their surroundings. You can also visit the ‘Piazza della Cisterna’ encircled by uncontaminated buildings from the 13th and 14th centuries. In the ‘Piazza del Duomo’ the Romanesque church from the 12th century offers splendid interiors. A large number of shops can be found along the ‘Via San Giovanni’ and ‘Via San Matteo’ which offer many opportunities to taste the renowned white wine ‘Vernaccia’ from San Gimignano.

Piazza del Campo with its characteristic shell-shape. This is the place where, on July 2nd and August 16th every year, the

Pisa & Lucca Tour
Number of people: min. 1 – max. 8
Duration: 8 hours
First we visit
Pisa with its
‘Piazza dei Miracoli’ (Miracle Piazza) including its cathedral, its baptistery,
‘monumental cemetery
’ and famous Leaning Tower. These elements stand together and make up an architectural complex considered to be one of the most beautiful in
Tuscany. The Cathedral (
‘Duomo’) stands in the center of the
‘Piazza dei Miracoli’ while the monumental cemetery lies to the right of the Cathedral. With its entire structure covered with marble, this
‘Duomo’ is a stunning masterpiece of Pisan-Romanesque architecture. The Leaning Tower stands in front of the Cathedral. It is about 56 metres in height. A climb up the spiral stone steps of this 13
th century tower is an experience not to be missed!
Only 15 minutes away by car we find ourselves in
Lucca called
‘la città delle cento chiese’ (the city of one hundred churches). In fact, there are many churches both inside and outside the city
’s 16
th century walls. Even though it is so close to
Pisa this city has a completely different character. The overall impression is to find oneself in a much more aristocratic city with a style more similar to cities of northern Europe than of Tuscany. Its city centre and boundary walls have been perfectly conserved and it is one of the Tuscan cities in which it is still possible to see the power and importance that it once had in the past. Among the items not to be missed are the church of
San Michele in Foro, the church of
San Giovanni e Reparata and the celebrated cathedral
Duomo di San Martino. The chapel of this cathedral, built by Matteo Civitali, still preserves the scultpure of the
Volto Santo (Holy Face). Finally, one of the characteristics which render the city of Lucca unique in all of the world, is the
Torre Guinigi (Guinigi Tower) with its height of 44 metres and its stupendous holm which is placed on its summit.

Cinque Terre Tour
Number of people: min. 1 – max.
Duration: 8/9 hours
The Cinque Terre Tour is an unforgettable excursion dedicated to discovering one of the most enchanting places in the world: five towns suspended between earth and sea and surrounded by hills and vineyards. Here we can emerge ourselves in paradise. Our tour begins with the arrival at Portovenere, where a boat will be waiting to take us to Monterosso. (Please note that from our experience it is best to go by boat to these towns due to the difficulty of arrival by car and in order to have flexibility with the timetable.)
As soon as we have arrived at Monterosso you will be overwhelmed by its marvelous beaches and the lush vegetation which surrounds it.
Our excursion will then proceed to Vernazza, a little seaside town with a tiny natural port. Here you will have time to stroll through the town’s charming narrow lanes.
Depending on your time available you can take the boat to the other towns as well. The ticket for the boat is an unlimited ticket for the day that you are traveling.
During this excursion land transport will be made in a luxury car or minivan complete with air-conditioning, mini-bar, large panoramic windows and comfortable seats.

Hills outlined by the endless rows of cypress trees, majestic castles, thermal spa towns, tiny Medieval villages surrounded by olive groves, wine cellars that hold the valuable oak and chestnut casks where the famous Brunello di Montalcino ages. This is the Val d’Orcia, one of the most precious jewels in the Siena area.
This beautiful village stands on the top of a hill that is almost entirely covered in vineyards: the area is in fact famous for the production of the super tuscan Brunello di Montalcino wine. The village is a pretty destination, not just for wine lovers, but also for art and architecture enthusiasts. The old center of Montalcino is a perfect example of Medieval Siena architecture, with its ancient walls, Palazzo dei Priori and the wonderful Rocca fortress, built around the 14th century.
Pienza was declared Heritage of Mankind by UNESCO and is considered to be the “symbol city” of the Italian Renaissance, thanks to the work by Enea Silvio Piccolomini who had the wonderful civil and religious buildings such as the Assunta Cathedral, the majestic Palazzo Piccolomini, from where there is a wonderful view over the whole of the Val d’Orcia, the Bishop’s Palace and the Municipal Palace, built in the mid 15th century. Pecorino di Pienza, a typical cheese that you must try with walnuts and pears, is also worth a mention of its own.
Montepulciano is a charming village known as the “pearl of the 16th century” due to the wonderful Renaissance buildings that can be seen in the old village center.
